Vision — Family Goals

What families who plan together actually build.

The Vision feature gives your family a shared place to put the things you're working toward — a trip, a home, a financial goal, a habit — so everyone knows the direction and what it takes to get there.

Family Basecamp Vision tab

Most families have goals they talk about. Fewer have them written down anywhere everyone can see. The gap between "we should do that someday" and "here is what we are working toward and here is our progress" is the gap the Vision feature is designed to close.

Parents can create vision cards — each one a goal with a name, a description, an icon, a color, and a progress bar you move manually as things develop. Milestones sit underneath each vision so the big goal breaks into steps. Over time, the board shows where your family has been putting its energy.

What goes on a vision board

Visions can be anything meaningful to your family. A trip you're saving toward. A home project that keeps getting pushed. A financial goal with a real number attached. A family habit you're trying to build — dinner together four nights a week, one screen-free Saturday a month. There's no required format. A vision is whatever your family has decided is worth working toward.

Each card has a progress slider — 0 to 100 percent. You move it when something moves. There's no automatic tracking here; the progress is something you discuss and update together, which makes the board a conversation piece as much as a tracker.

"When the family can see what you're all working toward, individual decisions start connecting to something bigger."

Milestones

Under each vision, you can add milestones — the specific things that need to happen for the goal to become real. Book the flights. Open the savings account. Have the meeting. Each milestone can be checked off as it's completed. The progress bar and the milestone list together tell the full story of where the vision stands.

Who sees the vision board

The Vision tab is visible to parents in the full Family Basecamp view. It's a place for parents to articulate direction — not just for the kids' benefit, but for your own. Families that write down what they're building tend to build more of it.

It's also a starting point for Campfire questions. When kids know there's a family trip on the vision board, they have context for why certain things matter. Vision and daily habit connect.
