Most parents know they want more real conversation with their kids. Not the quick check-ins about homework or schedules, but actual time — sitting together, paying attention, asking real questions. What gets in the way isn't intention. It's structure. There's no built-in trigger for it, so it keeps getting pushed to "later."
The Connect feature creates that structure. It tracks which kid you last spent one-on-one time with, suggests who's next up, and offers a ready-made conversation prompt so you don't have to start from nothing. The same goes for couple check-ins — a weekly question between partners that keeps the relationship part of the rhythm, not just the logistics.
One-on-one with your kids
For each child, Family Basecamp tracks when you last had a one-on-one. The feature shows you which kid has gone the longest without dedicated time and surfaced that person first. Tap to see suggested activities — a walk, a coffee run, a game, a drive — and a conversation starter tailored to that child's recent activity in the app.
When you log the connection, it records the date, what you did, any notes you want to keep. Over time, you build a record of the moments you made space for.
Couple check-ins
The couple check-in is a weekly question for partners — something that goes a little deeper than the usual debrief about who's picking up which kid. It rotates weekly, it's private between the two of you, and it creates a small habit of paying attention to each other in the middle of everything else.
Date night suggestions are built in too — generated by Kin with your location, your budget preferences, and what you've recently done, so you always have somewhere to start.
Why this is a feature and not just advice
Most family relationship advice tells you to be more intentional. This feature makes intentionality a system. You don't have to remember to do it — the app surfaces it. You don't have to think of what to say — it gives you a starting point. The human part is still yours. The structure is handled.
